Wonderful Robot 7723 (Next gen)

Versión en español

Robot 7723 (Next gen), despite being a film mainly for children, presents some of the most relevant and characteristic arguments and ideas of the debate that occurs within the Effective Altruism movement among Classic Utilitarians who wish to maximize total happiness by ensuring the expansion of humanity throughout the universe since they consider that the net balance of sentient life is (or will be) positive; and the Negative Utilitarians, focused on preventing the intense suffering of humans and animals, concerned that mankind will spread pain and misery across the Galaxy. In the film, expressions typical of these areas are mentioned, almost literally, such as that “we agree to disagree” or the idea of ”Destroying the world to end suffering.” Additionally, it very correctly raises the relationship between memories and identity (the illusion of the continuity of the self or Closed Individualism as opposed to Empty Individualism).
