Maximizing pleasure, reducing suffering (about two types of orgasms)

Versión en español

There are two types of orgasms: those in which we can perfectly remember the pleasure levels, and others in which it’s impossible to know, since the experience is lived without memory, every moment as if it was lived by a different person, as it’s explained by the hypothesis of Empty Individualism [1].

Pleasure may be higher “when we are unconscious” but this may be a wrong expression to describe the idea: we may meant “very conscious at just that point in time, but difficult to remember later”. Maybe the greatest pleasure only can be achieved but never known, since the greatest pleasure may be (up to now) incompatible with memories (just as the experiences we have in dreams could be very high and highly conscious, and we forget them later when we go down to a less powerful state of mind). Probably we will get the biggest pleasure if we focus just on the pleasure, but only in the pleasure, making the pleasure as much conscious as it can be, but at the same time, the self as less conscious as it can be.

This happens with true pleasures. On the contrary, fake pleasures may diminish or even disappear by trying to make them more conscious, such as the pleasure of smoking when you already are a heavy smoker, as it’s explained in my Paneudaimonia hypothesis [2].

In summary, we can be completely wrong about what is pleasant and what is not and how much. Nature is cheating us, again and again, regarding pleasure and pain, altering our memories and consciousness for reasons that probably have an evolutionary origin.

If all those subjective experiences and cheats would had an evolutionary explanation, this will be another sign that we sentient beings are all alone and there’s no meta level beings, playing with us like gods, as if this world were a simulation like Nick Bostrom suggests [3]. On the contrary, behaviours and subjective experiences without evolutionary explanation will give arguments for the existence of some kind of meta level of reality and someone up there manipulating us, playing with us, we sentient beings, we the prisoners, the children of the damned [4].

Hopefully there’s a meta level because in that case there’s a chance of ending all suffering for everyone, forever, as explained in my Sentience Platonism hypothesis [5].
